About Warrnambool
Warrnambool is a city on the south-western coast of Victoria, on the Princes Highway, where the Hopkins Highway ends and the Great Ocean Road finishes a short distance to the east. Traditional land of the Dhauwurd Wurrung people, it began as a whaling port in the early 1800s and grew into a port serving the goldfields. The city is known for the Flagstaff Hill maritime village, with treasures salvaged from the wreck of the Loch Ard, for the southern right whales that calve off Logan's Beach each winter, and for its long-established dairy industry.
