About Drik Drik

Drik Drik is a small rural settlement in the Glenelg Shire of south-west Victoria, on the Nelson-Winnap Road about 8 kilometres south of Dartmoor and 35 kilometres north-west of Heywood. The village grew up in the mid-1860s when land from the former Glenaulin squatting run was subdivided for selection, and its name is said to come from an Aboriginal word meaning 'stoney stoney'. It developed around two stone churches, a state school, a post office and a butter factory, with a memorial avenue of Moreton Bay figs along the old road as its main civic feature.
