About Cororooke
Cororooke is a small rural village about eight kilometres north-west of Colac in the Shire of Colac Otway, situated in the fertile Warrion Hills between Lakes Colac and Corangamite. The name derives from the Aboriginal word korerook meaning brolga, and the area historically supported dairy and vegetable growing with Irish settlers arriving in the 1880s. A butter factory operated for over 100 years before closing in 2013, and the Red Rock Regional Theatre and Gallery now occupies a former church.
