About Birregurra

Birregurra is a town in the Colac Otway Shire of Victoria, about 130 km south-west of Melbourne, on Gulidjan Country. Its name comes from an Aboriginal word thought to mean kangaroo camp. The railway reached the town in 1877, and the station is served by V/Line services on the Warrnambool line. Birregurra is home to the Brae restaurant, ranked among the world's best, and hosts the Birregurra Festival and Art Show each October.
