About Berrybank

Berrybank is a rural locality in the Corangamite Shire of the Western District of Victoria, located about 129 kilometres from Melbourne on the Hamilton Highway between Cressy and Lismore. The landscape features flat to gently undulating volcanic plains used for sheep, cattle, and cropping. Originally known as Gherangemarajah, the land was first licensed in 1848 and the Mack family established the Berrybank homestead, well known for merino sheep breeding. The settlement resulted from subdivision of the homestead in 1903, and the Uniting Church remains a local landmark.
