About Lismore (Vic.)
Lismore is a town on the Hamilton Highway about 170 kilometres west of Melbourne in Corangamite Shire, recorded in early colonial reports by its Aboriginal name Bongerimennin. First settled by Europeans in 1840 and surveyed and named in the 1850s, it grew into a prosperous service town for the surrounding fine wool producing properties.
