About Balmoral (Vic.)

Balmoral is a town in the Western District of Victoria, Australia, on the Glenelg River. It developed in the early 1850s at a convenient crossing point on the overland track between Melbourne and Adelaide, with a post office opening in 1855. The town, near Rocklands Reservoir, is associated with Johnny Mullagh, one of the stars of the 1868 Aboriginal cricket tour of England, who was born in the district; the town oval bears his name.
