About Pigeon Ponds
Pigeon Ponds is a locality in the Shire of Southern Grampians in south-western Victoria, on the Coleraine-Edenhope Road. It takes its name from a creek that explorer Major Thomas Mitchell named during his 1836 Australia Felix expedition, after a bronze-winged pigeon that was the first he had seen south of the Grampians. The locality has a memorial hall and is home to active cricket and tennis clubs.
