About Runnymede (Vic.)
Runnymede is a quiet rural locality in central Victoria, situated where Mount Pleasant Creek joins the Campaspe River south of Elmore. The area was settled in the 1840s on pastoral runs, and early records note grape and tobacco growing alongside sheep grazing. Today the locality is identified mainly by a cemetery, a few ruins and the Runnymede State Forest to the south-east.
