About Redbank (Vic.)

Redbank is a small village on the eastern slopes of the Pyrenees range in central-west Victoria, on the Sunraysia Highway about 22 kilometres north-west of Avoca. A gold discovery in 1860 drew a rush of about 2,000 people and the town was surveyed in 1861, but the rush soon moved on. The district later became part of the Pyrenees wine region, with the Redbank vineyard established in the early 1970s.
