About Avon Plains
Avon Plains is a rural locality in the eastern Wimmera of Victoria, about 32 km west of St Arnaud, named after the Avon Plains pastoral run taken up in 1846 beside the Avon River. Farm selections were made from the early 1870s and the district was closely settled by the 1890s.
