About Appin (Vic.)
Appin is a rural locality on the riverine plains of north-west Victoria, south of Kerang. The district was settled from the mid-1870s as pastoral runs were taken up for farm selection. Appin Primary School, first opened as Lake Merring State School in 1881 and renamed Appin State School in 1887, served the area until it closed about 1973.
