About McCrae
McCrae is a bayside suburb on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, about 59 km south of central Melbourne between Dromana and Rosebud. It is named after Georgiana McCrae, whose 1844 homestead is a National Trust property, and is known for the McCrae Lighthouse, built in 1883 and Victoria's tallest, which guided shipping through the South Channel of Port Phillip Bay until 1994. From the 1930s the foreshore developed as a seaside resort.
