About Derrimut

Derrimut is a suburb 17 km west of Melbourne's central business district, in the City of Brimbank. It is named after Derrimut, a nineteenth-century Boonwurrung elder who in October 1835 warned John Pascoe Fawkner and other early settlers of a planned attack, an act credited with saving the fledgling settlement. Part of Deer Park until it was detached in 1998, Derrimut has since grown as a residential and industrial suburb.
