About Chirnside Park
Chirnside Park is a suburb of Melbourne about 38 km east of the city centre in the Shire of Yarra Ranges, developed from the Mooroolbark Park estate bought by George Chirnside, who moved his stud herds from Werribee Park there in 1921. Subdivision began in 1956 and the area was named Chirnside Park in honour of Thomas Chirnside in 1962. Today it is a satellite community of Lilydale with commercial wineries, orchards, the Heritage Golf and Country Club on the Yarra River and the Chirnside Park Shopping Centre.
