About Bend Of Islands

Bend of Islands is a locality about 30 kilometres northeast of Melbourne in the Shire of Nillumbik, officially gazetted in 2000. The 634-hectare area is protected under Environmental Living Zone regulations that restrict clearing, require native planting, and exclude dogs and cats. The remnant bushland along the Yarra River forms an important wildlife corridor between Warrandyte State Park and Kinglake National Park, supporting species including the endangered Brush-tailed Phascogale and Powerful Owl.
