About Yuroke
Yuroke is a rural locality in the City of Hume, about 26 km north-west of Melbourne, on Mickleham Road between Mickleham and Greenvale, on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people. Its name is thought to derive from an Indigenous word meaning 'iguana'. While surrounding areas such as Craigieburn have been built up as Melbourne suburbs, Yuroke has remained agricultural, beyond the Melbourne Urban Growth Boundary. A post office operated here from about 1902 until 1975.
