About Eden Park
Eden Park is a rural locality on Melbourne's north-eastern fringe, about 36 kilometres from the central business district in the City of Whittlesea. It takes its name from an estate settled by Ewen Robertson, who acquired the land in 1854 and built the twelve-room homestead Breadalbane; the property was sold to an investor in 1888. Erosion-prone land has kept development light and the locality is part of Melbourne's Green Wedge. Eden Park had a primary school from 1904 to 1942 and a post office from 1905 to 1971, and today is home to Melbourne Polytechnic's Northern Lodge, a thoroughbred stud and vineyard where students train in equine studies and winemaking.
