About South Wharf

South Wharf is a small inner-city suburb of Melbourne, about 2 km south-west of the CBD on the Yarra River, gazetted in 2008 from the city's old shipping and industrial precinct. It is the last remaining piece of Melbourne's maritime heritage, with restored 19th-century cargo sheds and the 1885 sailing ship Polly Woodside, now part of the Melbourne Maritime Museum. The suburb is also home to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and the DFO South Wharf outlet centre.
