About Essendon
Essendon is a suburb in Melbourne, about 8 km north-west of the central business district, within the City of Moonee Valley, on land of the Wurundjeri people. The suburb was named by settler Richard Green after Essendon in Hertfordshire, England. It is home to the Essendon Football Club, the AFL's 'Bombers', who have won 16 premierships, and is the birthplace of singer Judith Durham.
