About Essendon North
Essendon North is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, about 10 km north-west of the city centre, adjacent to Essendon Airport. The airport, proclaimed by the Commonwealth Government in 1921 and originally known as St Johns, was Melbourne's main airport, handling commercial international flights until they moved to the new Melbourne Airport in 1970, followed by domestic services in 1971.
