About Malvern (Vic.)

Malvern is an inner suburb of Melbourne in the City of Stonnington, about eight kilometres south-east of the central business district. Once nicknamed "The Garden City" for its many parks and gardens, it grew into one of Melbourne's leading residential suburbs and was proclaimed a city in 1911. Glenferrie Road is a heritage shopping strip, and the suburb was the original home of Malvern Star bicycles. Landmarks include the Victorian-era Stonington mansion, Malvern tram depot and Malvern Town Hall, now the meeting place of the Stonnington City Council.
