About Hughesdale
Hughesdale is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, about 14 km south-east of the central business district, in the City of Monash. The suburb grew around its railway station, which opened in 1925 and was named after James Vincent Hughes, mayor of Oakleigh who had lobbied for a station in the area. Its Poath Road Village shopping strip retains an interwar character.
