About Wentworth (Vic.)
Wentworth is a sparsely populated rural locality in the East Gippsland region of Victoria, in the forested valleys of the upper Wentworth River. The river meanders through the locality from its source in the Great Dividing Range before joining the Wonnangatta River to form the Mitchell River. Its banks and tributaries were worked for alluvial gold during the rushes of the 1860s.
