About Warragul West
Warragul West is a small rural locality in the Latrobe to Gippsland region of Victoria, located about 87 to 90 kilometres from Melbourne in the Baw Baw Shire. The area sits within the fertile West Gippsland dairy region between the Strzelecki Ranges to the south and the Mount Baw Baw Plateau of the Great Dividing Range to the north. Named after the adjacent main town of Warragul, established as a railway construction camp in 1878, the name Warragul means wild dog in the Darug language.
