About Traralgon East

Traralgon East is a mixed industrial and residential locality in the City of Latrobe in the Latrobe Valley of Victoria, located 160 kilometres east of Melbourne. Named for its position east of Traralgon, the Traralgon saleyard was moved to the area in 1958 signalling its industrial destiny. Traralgon East Primary School opened two years later in Shakespeare Street. The locality contains the saleyards north of the Princes Highway, the Latrobe Valley racecourse, the Traralgon greyhound track and residential housing on the south side. The east campus of Traralgon Secondary College, originally Traralgon High established in 1955, adjoins the primary school. The locality extends to the Latrobe River in the north and Flynns Creek in the east.
