About Timbarra (Vic.)
Timbarra is a rural locality in the East Gippsland region of Victoria, taking its name from the Timbarra River that runs through it. The river rises on the Nunniong Plains in the Victorian Alps and flows about 90 kilometres through forested mountains, gorges and the Nunniong Plain and Mount Elizabeth scenic reserves before joining the Tambo River south-east of Tambo Crossing. The small settlement of Timbarra sits beside the river about 30 kilometres north-west of Buchan, surrounded by sparsely settled mountain country.
