About Mirboo
Mirboo is a rural locality in the Strzelecki Ranges within the South Gippsland Shire. Settled by timber getters in the late 1870s drawn by mountain ash, the name derives from an Aboriginal word for kidney. The former Shire of Mirboo existed from 1894 to 1994 before merging into South Gippsland.
