About Turtons Creek
Turtons Creek is a rural locality in the Latrobe to Gippsland region of Victoria, located about 20 kilometres north of Foster in the Strzelecki Ranges. The creek flows through a narrow valley with 60-metre-tall Mountain Ash, tree ferns, and cool temperate rainforest remnants, and Turtons Creek Falls is an iconic waterfall cascading over rocks. Turton's Creek Goldfield was discovered in the 1870s with rich alluvial goldfields reportedly yielding about 60,000 ounces of gold during the main workings, and the goldfield is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.
