About Macks Creek
Macks Creek is a rural locality in the Wellington Shire of the Latrobe-Gippsland region in Victoria, located about 150 kilometres southeast of Melbourne within the Strzelecki Ranges. The landscape features Mountain Ash forests, the tallest flowering hardwood trees on earth, alongside cool temperate rainforest gullies and ferny creek valleys, with over 53 percent of the area protected as parks and reserves. Macks Creek itself is a tributary of the Tarra River, and the area is home to the South Gippsland Koala, a genetically intact wild population unique in Victoria, with Tarra Bulga National Park adjacent and jointly managed with Gunaikurnai Traditional Owners.
