About Goongerah

Goongerah is a small settlement on the Brodribb River in the East Gippsland region of Victoria, at the foot of Mount Ellery. Its name is a Bidwell word meaning 'egg rock'. The locality is home to the Goongerah Environment Centre Office, which campaigns for the protection of native forests. Its primary school, one of Victoria's smallest, closed in 2019.
