Fish Creek

About Fish Creek

Fish Creek is a small town in the South Gippsland Shire of Victoria, in a dairying district of the Gippsland hills, and is named for the river blackfish once abundant in the creek that runs alongside it. The area was first settled in 1886 when land was cleared from dense forest, and the railway arrived in 1892. A creamery established in 1900 grew into the Fish Creek Butter Factory, serving the surrounding dairy farms.
