About Bushy Park (Vic.)

Bushy Park is a rural locality in the Shire of Wellington in Gippsland, Victoria, about 180 kilometres east of Melbourne on the Avon River. Named after the pastoral run established by Angus McMillan in the early 1840s, it was the first area settled by McMillan in Gippsland, and the original homestead has been relocated to the Old Gippstown Historical Museum. The site is celebrated in Eugene von Guérard's 1861 panoramic painting View of the Gippsland Alps, from Bushy Park on the River Avon, now held in the National Library of Australia.
