About Thowgla Valley

Thowgla Valley is a remote locality in the Shire of Towong in north-east Victoria, set within the forested foothills of the Victorian high country about 60 kilometres south-west of Albury-Wodonga. The locality encompasses the Thowgla Creek drainage valley, with a history of alluvial gold mining dating to 1880 at nearby Upper Thowgla. Today the area is characterised by grazing properties and bushland, with the Thowgla Public Hall serving as the main community gathering point.
