About Merriang South

Merriang South is a small rural locality in the Hume region of Victoria, about 28 kilometres north of Melbourne near Whittlesea. The name is thought to be Aboriginal for stone chopper, and the area was first occupied for grazing in 1846 before being incorporated into the former Merriang shire.
