About Glenaroua
Glenaroua is a rural locality in Mitchell Shire in central Victoria, near Tallarook about 10 km south of Seymour. Glenaroua Station was established as a sheep run in 1838 by William Hamilton and is said to be one of the oldest pastoral stations in Victoria, with a lease reputed to be the first granted in the Port Phillip District. Its bluestone homestead was built in stages in the 1850s and 1860s. Land selection in the 1860s opened the area to smaller farmers and settlement.
