About Russells Bridge
Russells Bridge is a rural locality in the Golden Plains Shire of Victoria, on the south bank of the Moorabool River about 3.5 kilometres north of Bannockburn and 25 kilometres north-west of Geelong. The locality takes its name from George Russell, manager of the Clyde Company, who developed the area from 1838 and directed construction of the first bridge crossing in 1842. The historic bluestone Russells Bridge and remnants of the Clyde Flour Mill are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.
