About Boonah (Vic.)
Boonah is a rural locality in the Surf Coast Shire, located approximately 46 kilometres south-west of Geelong in the foothills of the Otway Ranges. The area was the base for sawmilling operations from the 1880s, servicing the Benwerrin coal mine and local farms. Today most of the locality is protected forest within the Great Otway National Park and Otway Forest Park.
