About Costerfield
Costerfield is a former mining locality in hilly country 10 km north-east of Heathcote in the City of Greater Bendigo in Victoria. Named for two of its discoverers, Coster and Field, the area was mined from 1861 for complex ores rich in gold and antimony, and supplied antimony to Britain for munitions during the First World War. The Costerfield Gold and Antimony Mining Precinct is a heritage-registered site, and mining continues nearby.
