About Pittong
Pittong is a rural locality in western Victoria, between Linton and Skipton south-west of Ballarat. It developed around the Skipton railway line, which reached Pittong when the line was extended to Skipton in 1916 and served the locality until the line closed in 1986. A kaolin quarry worked weathered granite at Pittong, and its freight traffic kept the line in use into the mid-1980s.
