About Mount Helen
Mount Helen is a growing southern suburb of Ballarat in Victoria, about 10 km from the city centre, on the Canadian Creek just north of Buninyong, in gently undulating country flanked by bush and pine plantations. Long a grazing district, it took its first house in 1952. The suburb is now the headquarters of Federation University, whose Mount Helen campus was established in 1970 as the Ballarat Institute of Advanced Education, and it also hosts the Ballarat Technology Park.
