About Goldsborough (Vic.)
Goldsborough is a rural locality in the Victorian Goldfields, located about 6 kilometres northwest of Dunolly and 170 kilometres northwest of Melbourne, spanning the Shires of Loddon and Central Goldfields. The area sits within the broader Golden Triangle between Dunolly, Inglewood, and Wedderburn, a region shaped by the massive gold rushes of the 1850s when the Old Lead Diggings near Dunolly attracted up to 50,000 miners. The nearby district of Moliagul is where the Welcome Stranger, the world's largest alluvial gold nugget at 69 kilograms, was discovered in 1869.
