About Dry Diggings
Dry Diggings is a small rural locality in the Hepburn Shire of central Victoria, about eight kilometres from Daylesford along the Midland Highway. The name derives from the 1850s alluvial gold diggings on the Mount Franklin goldfield, where miners struggled with the lack of surface water needed to wash paydirt, and the township was surveyed and proclaimed in 1875.
