About Clunes (Vic.)
Clunes is a town in a valley on Creswick Creek in Victoria, about 36 km north of Ballarat, in the Shire of Hepburn. It was the site of Victoria's first officially registered gold discovery in 1850. The town's largely intact nineteenth-century main street, Fraser Street, has appeared in films including Mad Max and a 2019 Ned Kelly movie. Clunes hosts the Booktown Festival, the first booktown festival in the Southern Hemisphere.
