About Apollo Bay (Tas.)
Apollo Bay is a rural locality on Bruny Island, in the Kingborough local government area of Tasmania, about 30 kilometres south of Kingston by road and ferry. The name is said to come from the brig Apollo, built in 1826 and wrecked the following year. The locality sits along a no-through road on the island and, although sparsely populated, has many holiday houses, making it a popular holiday destination.
