About Woodbridge (Tas.)

Woodbridge is a semi-rural locality on the western shore of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel in southern Tasmania, about 36 km south of Hobart, opposite Bruny Island. Settled by Europeans in 1847 and originally known as Peppermint Bay, the town was renamed in 1881. The channel side of the locality has long been a fishing village, while its hinterland was known for orchards and dairying; today Woodbridge is a base for touring the channel's villages, craft shops and seafood businesses.
