About Ravenswood (Tas.)
Ravenswood is an eastern suburb of Launceston, Tasmania, located approximately 3.5 kilometres from the city centre. First settled in the early 19th century as a small farming community, the area takes its name from the Ravenswood property acquired by David McGown in 1836 on Distillery Creek. Today Ravenswood has evolved into a residential suburb with schools, shopping centres and modern infrastructure.
