About Notts Well

Notts Well is a sparsely settled rural locality in the Murray Mallee of South Australia, in the Loxton Waikerie district east of Blanchetown. It takes its name from a well sunk by the pastoralist William Nott in the Hundred of Paisley, about 16 kilometres east-south-east of Blanchetown, as squatters moved their flocks into the mallee in the 1800s. The locality is home to Wynmour, a property whose family has maintained a continuous daily rainfall record for the Bureau of Meteorology since 1899.
