About Cowell
Cowell is a coastal town on Franklin Harbor on the eastern side of the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, on the Lincoln Highway about 111 km south of Whyalla. It is the centre of a wheat and sheep farming district, and fishing and Pacific oyster farming in the harbour are important industries. Jade was discovered in the nearby Minbrie Ranges in 1965, and the Cowell Jade Province is one of the largest known nephrite jade deposits in the world.
