About Cleve
Cleve is an agricultural town on the central Eyre Peninsula of South Australia, about 226 kilometres south-west of Port Augusta. The town was gazetted in 1879 on a grid plan and named after Cleve House in Devon, England, the seat of the family of Sir William Jervois, the state's governor at the time. It is a major grain and wool centre, hosting a biennial farming field day.
